| Visitation: Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home of
Okawville on Wednesday from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. and
on Thursday from 7:30 A.M. until 9 A.M. then at the
church on Thursday from 10 A.M. until the service
hour. |

| Services: Funeral services will be held in the St. Salvator
Lutheran Church at Venedy on Thursday, January 21,
2010 at 11 A.M. with the Reverend, Dr. Art Eichhorn
officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. |
Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the St. Salvator Cemetery or to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home. |

Mr. Elmer Bergmann of Venedy, IL departed this life
in the Community Care Center of Mar-Ka at Mascoutah,
IL on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 9:40 A.M. He had
attained the age of 87 years, 10 months and 15 days.
Elmer was born at Venedy on March 3, 1922 the son
of Willie and Christine (nee Kramme) Bergmann. He was
united in marriage to Leota Eckert at Darmstadt, IL
on February 28, 1948 and she preceded him in death on
November 29, 2005.
Elmer was a lifelong farmer and custom farm
equipment operator. He also owned and operated a
sawmill for many years. After he retired from
farming, Elmer was elected Road Commissioner of
Venedy Twp., a position that he held for over 20
years until retiring in 2004. Even after his
retirement, Elmer remained active and helped with the
fall harvest in 2009. Mr. Bergmann was a faithful
member of the St. Salvator Lutheran Church at Venedy.
He was also a member of the Washington County Farm
Bureau and the Venedy Sportsman’s Club.
Left to mourn his passing is a son, Roy Bergmann
and wife Jean of Venedy; 3 grandchildren, Willie,
Sarah and Jesse Bergmann all of the Venedy and
Okawville area; a sister-in-law, Gloria Beisiegel and
husband Mel of Freeburg, IL; nieces; nephews and a
host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William
and Christine Bergmann; his wife, Leota; two sisters,
Wilma Nobe and Helen Bergmann; and brothers-in-law
and sisters-in-law, Melvin Nobe, Donald Eckert,
Walter and Elinor Eckert and Ralph and Edith Eckert.
