Visitation: Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home of Okawville on Sunday from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. and on Monday from 7:30 A.M. until 9 A.M. then at the church on Monday from 10 A.M. until the service hour.
 
Services: Funeral services will be held in the United Methodist Church at Okawville on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 11 A.M. with Reverend Mary Lou Caswell officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. at Okawville.

Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be made to American Legion Post #233 or to the Okawville United Methodist Church and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home of Okawville.

Lavern H. “Butch” Dick of Okawville, IL departed this life in the extended care unit of the Washington County Hospital at Nashville, IL on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 11:35 A.M. He had attained the age of 93 years and 5 months.

Lavern was born at Okawville on September 25, 1916 the son of Henry and Katherine (nee Toensing) Dick. Butch was confirmed on April 13, 1930 in the St. Peter Evangelical Church in Okawville. He was united in marriage to Hazel Schwankhaus in the St. Peter Evangelical Church on December 14, 1946 and Hazel preceded him in death on January 17, 2004.

Butch was a farmer and heavy equipment operator. He served in the United States Army during WW II. He was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church of Okawville and a member of American Legion Post #233 and VFW Post #5596 of Okawville as well as the Okawville Community Club. Mr. Dick also served on the boards of the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Okawville and the Okawville Grade School for several years. He was also a member of Teamsters Local #50 in Belleville, IL.

Left to mourn his passing is two daughters, Donna Kraus and husband Bob and Kathy Davis and husband Bill, all of Okawville; one son, Terry Dick of Okawville; six grandchildren, Jon Kraus and wife Jenn of Okawville, Michael Kraus and wife Malinee of Marion, IL, Jenny Gaynor and husband Aaron of Okawville, Beth Otten and husband Paul of St. Libory, IL, and Nathan Dick and Jodi Dick both of Okawville; seven great grandchildren, Chloe and Alayna Kraus, Maddyn Kraus, Evan and Owen Gaynor and Carley and Lane Otten; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; six brothers, Alfred, Elmer, Milburn, Clarence, Manfred and Paul in infancy; and three sisters, Nellie Luebke, Minnie Groennert and Frieda in infancy.
