Mrs. Florence E. Poirot, a resident of the
Columbia Convalescent Center in Columbia, Il.,
formerly of Nashville, Il., departed this life at
the St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo. on
Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:22 A.M. She had attained
the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 16 days.
Mrs. Poirot was born in Nashville, Il., on October
25, 1919 the daughter of Charles and Augusta
(Fredeking) Cook. She was united in marriage to
Orville R. Poirot at Farmington, Mo. on August 13,
1938 and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1991.
Florence was a homemaker and a member of the First
Presbyterian Church of Nashville and was a former
Deacon and Elder of the Church. She was also active
in the Presbyterian Women’s Association, and was a
member of the Geneva Fellowship.
Mrs. Poirot was active in The Washington County
Hospital Auxiliary, and was a member and Past Matron
of The Order of the Eastern Star. She was member and
founder of the Nashville Ladies Golf Association and
served as a Girl Scout Leader for several years.
Left to mourn her passing are 2 daughters,. Cheryl
(Zacheis) Davis and husband Walter of Belleville,
Il. and Deborah Phillips and husband Mathew of
Carbondale, Il. a son-in- law, William Mulvihill of
Chesterfield, Mo. 7 Grandchildren, and 9 great
grandchildren other relation and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
a daughter Judith A. Mulvihill , 3 brothers, 2
sisters and a son-in-law Earl Zacheis.
