Visitation: Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley on Sunday from 6 PM until 8 PM and on Monday from 7:30 AM until the service hour.
 
Services: Funeral services will be held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley, IL on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 10 AM with Rev. Rick Pearce officiating and with interment in the Ashley City Cemetery.

Memorials: Should friends desire memorial contributions can be made to the New Horizon Christian School or Ashley City Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.

Mr. George W. Thompson of Ashley, IL, departed this life at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, IL on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 12:18 AM. He had attained the age of 79 years, 1 month and 21 days.

Mr. Thompson was born on June 8, 1931 at Ashley, the son William and Mary (Dykstra) Thompson. He was united in marriage to Hazel P. Udarholt of Ashley on September 27, 1952 in Bluford, IL, and she survives his passing.

George was a member of the United States Army and worked for Illinois Central Railroad as a craneman and stockman for 42 years until his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Mariah Church in Centralia and Lions Club in Ashley.

Left to mourn his passing is a son, Robert A. Thompson and his wife Angela of Centralia; 3 grandsons, Adam Thompson and his wife Katie of Dix, IL, Justin Thompson and his friend Nikki Brink of Ashley and Kevin Thompson of Centralia; 1 granddaughter, Madison Hope Oltmann of Ashley; 1 brother, Berthal “Pete” Thompson and his wife Dorothy of Marion, IL; 5 sisters, Lillie Mae White of Ashley, Anna Ruth White of Centralia, Stella “Tootie” Wilson of Woodlawn, IL, Helen Thrope of Mt. Vernon, IL and Mary Douthit and husband Melvin of Mt. Vernon, IL; nieces, nephews, other relation and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Joe, Raymond and John Thompson; and 2 sisters, Lucy Buehne and Jennie Schubach.
